A note about a change to our prizing structure in 2018:
The Calgary Police Half Marathon organizing committee strives to put on a fun and engaging race, while raising funds for the Calgary Police Foundation to help at-risk youth.
In 2018, for our prizes, we focused on finding a balance between recognizing the top finishers and keeping the awards presentation brief. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant number of unclaimed gift cards for finishers in each age category. We heard from many participants that the award presentations occurred too late in the morning and we were having trouble getting prizes to people that had already left the gym. As a committee, we felt the funds allotted to these cards could be better used toward some bigger prize draws that could be awarded in a shorter time frame. In 2018, we partnered with Bow Cycle to provide bikes as a raffle for finishers, in addition to Tech Shop gift cards for the top three male, female and police finishers in each race (half marathon, 10K, 5K).
